London Jazz Festival 2009 is going strong, and it didn’t get any more uplifting with the performances of the Blind Boys of Alabama and Allen Toussaint at the Barbican. Now, with the Blind Boys, it’s all about appreciation and getting groovy, which is a damn shame that it was kind of lost with the majority of the audience at the Barbican. From the onset, veteran lead singer Jimmy Carter told the audience that “sitting down all conservative ain’t gonna cut it”. Of course, the great British failed to comply. Stiff upper lips strikes again!!
Allen Toussaint during his solo performance:
Have a great day, pilgrims!
